Senior Organic Gardeners wish to thank the Government of Ontario for approving and funding our latest project entitled “Enhancing Health Span.”

This project allows SOG to continue its highly appreciated and successful winter projects. The SOG Book Club will read one book per month in January, February, and March, 2026. The first book will be “Our Green Heart:  The Soul and Science of Forests” by Diana Beresford-Kroeger. All thirty members are looking forward to the engaging online discussions each book provokes. Thirty isolated seniors who enjoy gardening will receive three wellness checks and a horticultural therapy bag in November and December, 2025 and January, 2026. Amaryllis and narcissus are the favourite bulbs for winter forcing.

The horticultural therapy bags contain a variety of plant and reading material. SOG gratefully announces that the funding includes supporting the popular SOG Winter Symposium. Two sessions on topics of interest to organic gardeners will be held online in March, 2026.  Tickets will be available on Eventbrite. The SOG website is the place to track our progress and achievements. These activities could not proceed without the generous funding from the Government of Ontario.
