SOG was awarded a grant from the Federal Government’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. Our project is entitled “Adding Life to Years.” This one-year project will permit SOG to work with seven community housing groups, veterans at The Perley Centre, and indigenous seniors through the Gignal Non-Profit Housing Corporation.
May, 2023 will see the delivery of hundreds of organic vegetable seedlings from Northern Seeds and Slow Roots Farm to our groups. The community gardens will flourish from their care and the addition of the compost and fertilizer we will deliver. The harvest will be impressive and we look forward to a bountiful crop of fresh organic produce for our groups to enjoy, share, and preserve.
