SOG is grateful to the RTOERO Foundation for their generous grant to support our project entitled “Planting the Roots of Wellness.” This one-year project will permit SOG to reach out to seniors where they live. Seniors will receive raised gardening tables, organic seeds, seedlings, compost, and fertilizer.

The project also includes intergenerational collaboration between members of RTO and school groups participating in Growing Up Organic. The retired teachers will visit raised bed gardens and students will share their knowledge of food literacy, healthy eating habits, and environmental issues. In the winter months SOG volunteers will deliver books and lead online book talks to groups of seniors. Volunteers will also prepare horticultural therapy bags. Finally, we will organize online sessions with a local nutritionist.
